My Dieary: Language, variation & Dialect



LANGUAGE, DIALECTS AND VARIETIES
 
As we know, there are so many kind of languages in this world. The variation of it influnced by regional emphasizing in pronunciation, dialect and diction. The terms of variety language are emerged due t different systems reflecting different varieties of the human condition.  Variety is a specific set of ‘linguistic items’ or ‘human speech patterns’ (presumably, sounds, word, grammatical features, etc. While Language self  is a system comunication used by human to transfer their purpose or make them understood each other.
Acording to Wardhaugh (2006) distinguish the terms language and dialect as follow: lower part of variety language is dialect and as the main part is language , therefore we can say that texas English and Swiss German are dialects of English and German. Other understanding is added by Edward (2009) also define dialect as veriety of a language that differs from others along three dimensions: voacabulary, grammar and pronunciation (accent).
Furthermore, Dialect as branch of language self  is divided into two parst such as regional and social lanuage. Regional dialect is generaly dialect used people in a regional become tradition or characteristis of unique it self. It also can be defined by selecting and constructing of words, and in syntax of a language such distinctive of local variety. While social dialect is difference speech associate with various social groups. Social dialects crate among social groups and are related to a variety of factors such as social class, religion, and etnicity.
Some Questions Appear in the Classroom
1.      Ratna Question : “What is different example between regional and social dialect ?”
My answer : the different of two aspects above mainly can we see from the use dialect self. We know that regional dialect is used as generally or majority dialect in a region, such as using style of melayu language in Siak region. While social dialect is used in society enfiroment distingushed into level, age and enfiroment, for instance : javanesee has some level as rule in using the language. it also differing age and caste in society.
2.      Asep Sukroko Question: “What is different language and dialect ?”
My answer : language is system of comunication, media or tool used to transfer our means or to make other people understan each other. While dialect is style of language used by speaker as characteristic from a region or passion of group.
3.      My Question : “We as human, absolutly we reject Darwin’s teory said we as shipanse generation. We as human, certainly come from singel language. How can language so different each other such English and Japaneses ?”
Febbty’answer : the problem of how language so diffrent is still pro and contra, but as simply understanding, it is influnced by social and regional.
Della adds that : in the past there are so many language spareted into different islands and regional.
